ABOUT CAMILA CAMACHO MALDONADO

Camila is a freelance Director of Photography and Camera Operator based in Tampa, Florida. She recently served as the DP on Tony Gaskins’ series Relationship Status, a five episode project. Her work also includes serving as a B Camera Operator on the feature film Florida Wild, and as a DP on a documentary in Sitka, Alaska, where she helped tell the stories of local Native community members and highlight their unique lived experiences. She has also worked as a Camera Operator on the Hallmark film Valentines Town, and on a science documentary in the Everglades.

Before transitioning to freelance, Camila worked full time as a DP at Diamond View Studios, where she gained hundreds of hours of on set experience and developed a strong technical foundation managing the camera cage. She also brings experience in virtual production from her time at Vu Studios, shooting on LED walls.

Camila has worked across narrative, commercial, and documentary projects, with experience operating a range of camera systems including Arri, Sony, RED, and Blackmagic. Her camera of choice is the Alexa Mini.

She is passionate about empowering the next generation of cinematographers, especially young women and people of color, by showing them that a meaningful and fulfilling career in cinematography is within reach.
